Norse Add Another International Piece in Gabrielius Jokubauskas

Northern Kentucky has added another international piece to its rebuilding roster, landing a commitment from Lithuanian, wing Gabrielius Jokubauskas. At 6‘5” and nearly 20 years old entering the season, Jokubauskas brings a blend of athleticism, energy, and upside that fits the type of versatile wing NKU has consistently valued.

The commitment continues a clear trend for NKU. The Norse are leaning heavily into international recruiting this offseason, adding another player with professional experience overseas and a skill set that looks built for transition basketball and aggressive downhill play.

Jokubauskas averaged 9.3 points per game while shooting 56% from the field in Lithuania. He is also adding 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 22.1 minutes per game. From three-point range, he has connected on 38 threes this season, shooting 30% overall on high volume attempts.

The numbers only tell part of the story though.

What immediately stands out watching Jokubauskas is the activity level. He plays fast, attacks gaps aggressively, and looks comfortable playing through contact in transition or traffic. He is an athletic wing who plays above the rim and brings some explosiveness in space.

That athletic profile matters for how NKU wants to play.

The Norse have consistently been at their best under Horn when they can pressure defensively, create chaos, and turn games into transition opportunities. Jokubauskas looks tailor-made for that environment. He runs the floor hard, finishes with confidence around defenders, and does not shy away from physical drives into the paint.

Even beyond the athletic flashes, there is some intriguing offensive versatility here. At 6-foot-5, he has enough size to play multiple perimeter spots and enough comfort with the ball to keep possessions moving. The assist numbers are solid for a wing playing his role, and the willingness to shoot from deep suggests there is still room for offensive growth as his jumper develops.

The shooting consistency will likely be the swing skill long term. Thirty percent from deep is not elite yet, but taking 126 attempts shows confidence and willingness to keep firing. NKU has had success developing perimeter players over time, especially wings who already possess athletic tools and downhill scoring ability.

NKU’s 2026-27 roster is beginning to take on a very international feel overall, with players from Lithuania, Australia, Spain, and Madagascar now either on the roster or incoming.

High flying finishes, transition dunks, and nonstop energy. Here’s a first look at NKU commit Gabrielius Jokubauskas and what the Lithuanian wing brings to the Norse.
